syncreon expands CKD business with Audi
Audi has awarded syncreon a contract to provide additional CKD (Completely Knocked Down) export packing of its A4, A6, and Q5 vehicles.
Under terms of the five-year contract, syncreon will receive, consolidate, and warehouse incoming parts, subsequently pre-packing and assembling into CKD vehicle kits for export to China and India. syncreon will also provide complete packaging engineering, and supply chain management services, including parts disposition.
A custom-built 20,000 square-meter facility, located in Hannover, Germany, will house the operation. The building design will present potential for expansion in the future should volumes dictate.
The new Hannover facility will mirror syncreon’s existing operation in Emden, Germany which has provided dedicated CKD service to Audi since 2000. Increased volumes in the export market in recent years have driven the need for increased capacity. The syncreon Hannover facility will be able to support an additional 400,000 cubic meters of CKD kitting annually.
