Daimler AG selects syncreon for Speyer
syncreon will serve as the lead logistics supplier for Daimler’s Speyer Plant starting operation in 2015.
The new Speyer facility will be an Outbound (Export) facility where syncreon will provide Complete-Knock-Down/Piece-by-Piece (CKD/PbP) services for assembly facilities in China, USA, and South Africa. The Warehouse area covers 89,000 square meters and employs 300-500 workers. syncreon will handle the Returnable Containers Management services for the applicable volume returned from South Africa and USA. syncreon will provide customs clearance services to Daimler as well as participate in packaging design to optimize the supply chain and achieve world class excellence in cubic utilization and flexibility to cope with the elasticity effect of global demand and lead times. The Speyer plant will manage six main vehicle models and over 5,000 part numbers. Unique not only in architectural design and use of low energy consumption technologies, this facility also employs extensive use of skylights which provide natural light. The Speyer building incorporates a special tunnel that allows protected local wildlife (many species of snakes, reptiles, frogs and toads) to travel a natural course from the Rhine River through the facility to an adjascent wetland mating area.
